Description

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, provides direct counseling services to patients.  The schedule for this position is, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Tuesday, Thursday, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation, monitoring and review
  • Provide therapeutic interactions to foster patient’s social, cognitive, and behavioral skill development
  • Provide psychosocial interventions to teach skills for coping with urges, craving, impulsive behavior and cognitive distortions in thinking, motivational interviewing techniques
  • Provide individual, group and family counseling, where appropriate
  • Plan and facilitate interactions with patients within the program to build social, emotional, and behavioral functioning
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and thorough case records
  • Maintain relationships with patient referral agencies
  • Complete utilization reviews in a timely manner to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Master's degree in social work, mental health (MSW, MHC)

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • LMSW, LMHC, or limited permit
  • Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), a plus 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum one year in a behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This job operates in an indoor office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
