About This Role

Under the supervision or direction of an Event Food Service Lead, the Event Food Service Assistant is responsible for preparing ingredients and dishes for final execution as well as plating warm food and executing cold dishes for delivery to guests and clients. In addition, this role requires assisting with stocking of food and other items, cleaning, and caring for kitchen equipment. Energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the work, the people, and the customers are key to achieving success in this role.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist the Event Food Service Lead in executing visually appealing hot and cold dishes
  • Set up prep area workstations for best efficiency
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work area
  • Assist with loading and unloading to and from delivery vans of food and kitchen equipment
  • Close the venue prep area appropriately
  • · Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience in food preparation in a kitchen setting required
  • Catering and/or banquet experience a plus

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to stand or walk for up to eight (8) hours or more in a fast-paced environment requiring movement
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) language skills preferred
  • San Diego Food Handlers’ Card preferred
