What You’ll Do:

The Events Department Intern will report to the Manager and will support events to welcome our new Ambassador Teachers and any other task relevant to supporting our international teachers.  We are looking for interns who are passionate about organizing events and keen to learn about the international education arena and J-1 cultural exchange programs while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced business environment. 

  • Assist full-time staff with day-to-day operations and event planning

  • Assist with on-site, fast paced events

  • Assist with hotel arrivals and directing Ambassador Teachers to transportation

  • Set materials and rooms for events during teacher orientation including session setup, meals, Paint and Sip, and the last night party

  • Assist with drafting surveys and collecting and analyzing responses

  • Help to review proposed venues for future events

  • Other duties as assigned 

  • Must be able to lift boxes up to 20lbs

Hours: 40 hours/week with some weeks requiring overtime hours, evenings and weekend shifts

Location: Chapel Hill office and Durham venues for teacher orientations (including one week in Washington DC in the end of July) 

Qualifications

Experience You Bring:

  • Pursuing or recently completed Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Education, or related field preferred

  • Previous experience with event planning or setup

  • Bilingual is a plus, but not required
