Come join our team as a Personal Trainer in our brand new facility, Techny Prairie Activity Center (TPAC)! As a personal trainer, you’ll be utilizing your skills and knowledge to design and implement exercise programs for clients. You’ll also proactively promote fitness and membership opportunities to clients, members and prospective members.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and implement effective, safe, and individualized exercise/activity plans to guide and motivate clients; track each client’s progress and maintain complete and accurate client files.
  • Determine format and content of exercise/activity program plans.
  • Guide clients through exercise/activity program plans, ensuring proper form and safety; demonstrate proper technique.
  • Sell personal training packages to meet sales goals; engage customers and work hours on the fitness floor to aid in promoting TPAC offerings and/or promotions and increase personal training clientele.
  • Follow Northbrook Park District Guidelines for initial Strong Start Program.
  • Promote TPAC fitness and membership opportunities to members, clients, and prospective members at TPAC, special events, on the fitness floor, and other marketing outreach opportunities.
  • Perform regular rounds of the fitness/group exercise areas.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by fielding member and guest suggestions, concerns and complaints in a positive and understanding manner; provides follow-up and resolution as required.
  • Set up and monitor training equipment; ensure equipment is in good condition, notify Activity Center Supervisor of any malfunctions, problems, or repairs needed.
  • Provide individual guidance and back-up support to other personal trainers and TPAC staff as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

  • Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of personal training experience is required.
  • Personal Trainer certification through a nationally accredited organization
  • Lead and interact positively with clients and TPAC members and prospective members
  • Customer service, sales and membership focus
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Work independently and efficiently
  • Proficiency in proper use of fitness equipment and free weights
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology and physical fitness training methods and routine
