Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills. Our summer program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and enrichment components. We are currently recruiting Academic Specialists for our morning sessions. The program is held Monday through Friday, from June 11th to July 19th, 2024. Academic Specialists will work from approximately 8:00 AM 12:00 PM. Schools will be located in the Denver, Aurora, and Sheridan areas. Staff must attend training sessions on June 6, 7,8, and 10th.

Under the supervision of the Site Director and/or Multi Site Manager Academic Specialist provides SEL, literacy, or STEM instructor for our summer school age program for K-5th grade students.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to our students
  • Provide positive opportunities that engage students to express, and create
  • Be actively engaged with the students at all times
  • Provide, and support, opportunities for students to learn new skills
  • Actively assist the teacher, and provide general classroom support
  • Provide guidance and instruction to individual students or small groups
  • Provide literacy, SEL, or STEM instruction
  • Lead project-based curriculum as designed by SU
  • High expectations with critical classroom management skills
  • Facilitate theme-based projects that align with the curriculum
  • Daily classroom preparation
  • Attend all training and staff meetings
  • Provide safe and quality care to students
  • Adhere to all Scholars Unlimited policies as stated in the staff manual
  • Allow for flexibility to support the team and program as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.Must have at least 3 months (460 hours) of full-time or equivalent satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children (ages 5-12). Volunteer work may also apply. (This can be shown through a letter from a previous employer.) Must be able to complete/attend all paid pieces of training including First Aid and CPR within 30 days of hire date.
Background checks and fingerprinting are required.

Compensation: $20.00/hr for instruction, training, and planning
