Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills. Our summer program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and enrichment components. We are currently recruiting Youth Development Instructors for our afternoon sessions. The program is held Monday through Friday, from June 11th to July 19th, 2024. Youth Development Instructors will work from approximately 11:00 AM 4:30 PM. Schools will be located in the Denver, Aurora, and Sheridan areas. Staff must attend training sessions on June 6, 7,8, and 10th.

 

Under the supervision of the Site Director and/or Multi Site Manager Youth Development instructors plan and implement activities for our summer school age program for K-5th grade students.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the set-up, clean up and preparation of lesson plans and activities for program participants
  • Plan and lead activities for small groups of up to 15 students
  • Implement principles of recreation and project-based education demonstrating age appropriate crafts and activities
  • Help coordinate daily enrichment activities
  • Serve as a role model for students
  • Provide safe, and quality, care to students
  • Responsible for the care and safety of participants during the program, maintaining a safe environment and notifying the supervisor of any hazards/security issues as soon as possible
  • Comply with the Division of Early Childcare and Learning Licensing Rules and Regulations
  • Communicate with Scholars Unlimited staff and Site Director
  • Manage multiple tasks for all students in the cafeteria, classrooms, gym and other area in the school, as well as off-site centers and field trips
  • Attend all pieces of training and staff meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Must have at least 3 months (460 hours) of full-time or equivalent satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children (ages 5-12). Volunteer work may also apply. (This can be shown through a letter from a previous employer.) Must be able to complete/attend all paid pieces of training including First Aid and CPR within 30 days of hire date.
Background checks and fingerprinting are required.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. Must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to develop and implement project-based units for elementary-age students
  2. High School diploma or college-level classes
  3. Elementary school experience
  4. Able to work all scheduled summer hours
  5. Bilingual in Spanish desired.
  6. In good standing with Scholars Unlimited


Compensation:$20.00/hr for instruction, training, and planning
