What will you do?

As a member of the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) initiative, you will be responsible for supporting the training and technology activities of the ATDM team and participants using your advanced manufacturing skills and knowledge. Using your advanced manufacturing skills, you will proof curriculum project plans, coordinate capital needs, assist with instruction, manage lab and equipment maintenance, and other tasks. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to work independently and effectively in a team-oriented environment.

 

Where will you work?

We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA. There may be opportunities to work remotely as business needs allow.

What do you offer?

  • Associate’s degree and diploma in CNC machining required, with quality/metrology, additive manufacturing, and welding experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably with CNC machining, quality/metrology, additive manufacturing, and welding experience.
  • Experience in education/workforce training preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful relationships and partnerships.
  • CAD/CAM and parametric modeling experience required.
  • Multi-axis CNC machining experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability of inventory management.
  • Industrial experience or experience working with industrial partners in education is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel from location to location, with frequent independent travel, primarily throughout Southern Virginia Region and out of state.
  • Must be able to speak well in public and effectively converse verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to process vague, abstract verbal and written instructions.
  • Light to medium physical work may be required.

Why is the position open?

Because of the growth of our campus through success in our many programs, we’re looking for a Training & Technology Coordinator.  Due to the success of our Manufacturing Advancement team in executing the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) Program in partnership with the Department of the Navy, this is a new position supported by a contract that has been awarded through April 2025.  While IALR will continue to request funding beyond 2025 - it is not guaranteed.
