Lower School Intermediate Teacher

 

Fort Worth Country Day seeks an intermediate teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This position reports to the Head of Lower School. FWCD seeks applicants who will be actively engaged and involved beyond the classroom as a member of a family-centered, independent school community. This position is slated for 3rd grade, but could be moved to 2nd or 4th depending on the needs of the school.

 

Teachers are responsible for fostering and nurturing the intellectual, physical, social, ethical and leadership development of their students. Teaching responsibilities include language arts, mathematics, and social studies within a thematic-based curriculum that integrates the arts and technology. Responsibilities beyond the classroom include service on committees and possible involvement in coaching, club sponsorship, and/or summer and after-school enrichment programs. Teachers are expected to maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with their grade-level team members as well as subject specialists.

 

Teaching candidates should possess a growth mindset, strong ethical principles and communication skills. Experience with differentiated instruction, the reading/writing workshop, and a progressive, interdisciplinary teaching philosophy required. Additionally, FWCD seeks applicants with the following personal qualities:

  • The ability to demonstrate a wide range of presentation techniques in order to adapt activities for different learning styles

Qualifications:

  • Experience in elementary education; preferably with interdisciplinary teaching
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher; master’s degree preferred
