General Qualifications:

 

The Dishwasher position is a Non-Ministerial position. Non-ministerial staff who serve in operational and service support roles are not required to affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc. (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, they are expected in the course of their employment to respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Non-ministerial staff join into our community life of prayer, worship and spiritual activity, including but not limited to staff meetings, attendance at programs, Bible Study, and staff gatherings. 

 

Position Objective:

The Dishwasher will clean dishes, department equipment and kitchen, warehouse & dining area(s) as directed. Assisting the cooks with food preparation and other needs to offer high quality hospitality to Conference Center guests in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Set up dishmachine, and other cleaning equipment and chemical supplies for the day in accordance with Healthcode and Supervisor guidance.
  • Ensure dining has a steady supply of clean plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans & glasses by hand washing & prioritizing different dish machine loads.
  • Maintain clean water flow through the machine by cleaning screens as often as needed or following the time standards set by MHA management.
  • Clean kitchen floors, fridges, storerooms, cooking and eating utensils, bbqs, and other kitchen, dining and catering equipment as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Keep the dishwasher & food preparation areas clean by sweeping, mopping floors, wiping countertops, and emptying trash after each meal or other cleaning assignments needed.
  • Occasionally assist during meal periods in food serving or catering assisting.
  • Fill out temperature, cleaning logs and other hygiene requirements.
  • Properly organizes utensils, equipment, storage rooms, and assists in the storage of food items.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

  • Does not supervise other employees.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a California Food Handler’s Card 30 days upon employment.

 

Work Experience:

 

  • No experience necessary but preferred in food service.
  • High priority will be given to candidates who have cleaning, housekeeping or janitorial experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow assigned tasks & create checklists.
  • Ability to work in teams and work in harmony with different groups of people.
  • Ability to be self motivated, and have a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently.
  • Ability to communicate in English.

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday, squat, lift and carry loads using hands and arms for repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work safely around dish machines, hot and cold water and chemicals.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed, with hot temperatures and cold temperatures.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Ability to work days, evenings, holidays and weekends along with a flexible schedule.
  • Must have a valid California Food Handler’s Card.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
