General Qualifications:

 

The Bakery Lead is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs.  They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats. 

 

Position Objective:

 

The Bakery Lead is responsible to plan, prepare, set-up and provide quality bakery products for meals for any applicable location and to work in conjunction with the other leads in Food Service to present all food to guests in Mount Hermon in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

 

  • Prepare breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes and other pastries according to the direction of the menu and the Executive Chef.
  • Create new recipes and concepts for special events as needed.
  • Direct the bakery staff to achieve and exceed the expectation in quality of execution.
  • Follow BEOS and recipes to ensure correct food distribution and reduce food waste.
  • Monitor and fill out temperature logs and food logs.
  • Ensures all safe food handling practices are followed and maintains a clean sanitized work area.
  • Plan and organize the daily work-flow for the bakery.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for directing the bakery staff as instructed by the Executive Chef.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

 

  • High school graduate. Coursework or training in Culinary skills is preferred.

 

 

Work Experience:

 

  • 2 years’ experience in a large-scale commercial bakery or kitchen. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to handle stress in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • Must be creative in presentation and taste.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to be neat, clean, responsible, and organized.
  • Have strong skills in delegation, organizing workflow and staff.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out the directions of the Executive Chef.
  • Ability to become Serve Safe Certified within 30 days of hiring.
  • Ability to enforce all State health code and MHA procedures and policies.

 

Physical Demands:  

 

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and move around most of the workday.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to use a variety of kitchen tools, equipment and utensils, including sharp objects.
  • Ability to see, hear and speak English.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Ability to work holidays, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
