SUMMARY OF POSITION

An enthusiastic, creative and dependable business development intern to join our business development team to collaborate with the business development team in designing eye-catching print and digital membership materials, along with assisting in writing, filming and editing video content.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the creation of digital membership materials as assigned by business development department (i.e., e-postcards, social media content, web banners).
  • Assist with creating membership sales materials (i.e., flyers, membership/sponsorship booklet).
  • Assist with local marketing materials (newspaper ads).
  • Assist with reviewing and creating content for MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com (i.e., blog posts, content, photos, video).
  • Assist with pre-production, filming and editing video content for social media sites and MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and share experiences with other members of the team.

Qualifications

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or a recent college graduate from an accredited college university studying digital arts, graphic-design, and/or video production preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business social media best practices and platforms
  • Experienced computer skills in graphic design software, such as Adobe products, Adobe Premiere Pro preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Attendance and Dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.
  • Relationships with Others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Chamber. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works, to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a collaborative, team-oriented approach to conducting the operations of the chamber staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, while meeting established timelines and schedules in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Requires a highly organized and disciplined individual who will ensure timely follow up with the business development team and/or VP of Business Development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with all employee, including responses to electronic communications.
  • Self-motivated, high energy, and organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT

  • Frequent periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer using eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.

INTERSHIP WORK SCHEDULE

  • The position will beginning after the end of the Spring semester and last through the summer and end at an agreed upon date before the beginning of fall semester.
  • This position will last no longer than 12 weeks.
  • Work scheduled is flexible, but anticipate approximately 30 hours per week.
  • Work is to be performed within the Chamber’s normal business hours of 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
