We are currently searching for a DC Operations Trainer for our Kentwood distribution center. The DC Operations Trainer position is a year-round position dedicated to training new associates. This position will provide training to all new temporary and full-time warehouse employees, providing mentorship on job-specific tasks and procedures. 


The ideal candidate will have interest and experience helping others to learn and follow a process, and the ability to communicate well with internal teams, lead employees, and possess a desire to pass on knowledge of Flat River Group processes and procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-the-job training to ensure new staff is qualified for their positions.

  • Inform new staff about company policies and procedures.

  • Provide training for those working within specific departments.

  • Communicate any issues or concerns with the department Supervisor or Operations Manager.

  • Monitor and document the progress of trainees throughout the training program, ensuring timely completion of all required modules.

  • Maintain communication with the DC Manager, reporting directly to them.

  • Complete assigned warehouse tasks during periods of low training demand to optimize overall operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with, and have a dotted line reporting relationship to, the Learning & Development Manager.

  • Aptness to learn and understand the training procedures and day-to-day operations with each department.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1+ years of experience in warehouse environment and operations preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience in group training and mentorship preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.

  • Capability to stand and move around for tasks that may require mobility.

  • Excellent vision and hearing skills to perform job responsibilities effectively through in person, telephone, and written communication.

  • Capacity to engage in verbal communication, actively listen, and respond appropriately.
