AASCU is the collective voice of 350 public colleges, universities, and systems that hold students and community at the heart of their mission.  The association works to expand student access, success, and opportunity, promote world-class teaching and experiential learning tied to career advancement, and support applied research and service that advances economic development and quality of life in communities across the country. 

ABOUT THE DIVISION  

The Division of Leadership Development and Partnerships is responsible for a broad portfolio of high quality, cutting edge convenings and leadership development programs serving AASCU members. Our programs have a primary focus on support for the president or chancellor with complementary offerings for the presidential leadership team and for women and racial and ethnic minorities who aspire to leadership roles.  The advancement and corporate partnership program identifies and develops relationships with philanthropic and industry leaders to bring new revenue and thought leadership to advance AASCU’s mission and serve our members.

SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Advancement and Partnership Coordinator will play a key role in supporting AASCU development and fundraising efforts through philanthropic, high net worth giving, and corporate partnerships.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Corporate Partnerships Coordination 

Support the management and growth of AASCU’s Corporate Partner Program, duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • In partnership with the Vice President of Leadership Development and Partnerships and the Assistant Vice President of Advancement and Partnerships, support the reimagination and rollout of new partnership program.  

  • Research engagement opportunities of like-minded associations to help benchmark investment levels and types of opportunities offered.  

  • Research prospective corporate partners.   

  • Develop and maintain background briefers on prospective corporate partners.  

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings.  

  • Support notetaking in meetings and calls.   

  • Support development and updates of engagement prospects.  

  • Ensure relevant webpages are updated with partner information.   

  • Draft partnership agreements, complete invoice requests, and liaise with Finance department as needed. 

  • Support development of processes and structures to increase efficiency of workflows and cross-organizational collaboration. 

  • Support asset collection and benefit fulfillment.    

  • Support corporate partner engagement and logistics at in-person programming and convenings. 

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records.   

  • Maintain bases in AirTable and iMIS to help track partner activity and financial tracking. 

Philanthropic Partnerships and Initiatives Support 

Support the management and growth of AASCU’s strategic philanthropic initiatives, duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Support research of various foundations, high net worth individuals, and other funders.  

  • Develop background briefers on various funders/funding entities.   

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings.  

  • Support notetaking in meetings and calls. 

  • Support development, and successful submission, of concept notes and proposals and organizing documentation for grant deliverables and meeting preparation.  

  • Collaborate with other departments to schedule subject matter experts to participate in key partner engagements.  

  • Support the monitoring of current and emerging trends in philanthropy.  

  • Support the development of processes and structures to enhance cross-organizational collaboration and communication. 

  • Develop and maintain a central repository for all past organizational philanthropic work, including proposals, concept notes, grant reporting, etc.  

  • Support the identification and collection of a monthly philanthropy news round-up, to help inform development of strategies and to share with relevant senior leaders.  

  • Support other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's Degree required. 

  • 3-5 years of experience, preferably in nonprofit development/fundraising 

  • Corporate and foundation partnership experience  

  • Shared belief and commitment to AASCU’s mission and values  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required and experience with cloud collaboration tools, association management systems, and project management systems preferred. 

  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through the assessment of processes and systems.   

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND LOCATION 

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position located at AASCU’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. AASCU staff are currently required to be in the office in a hybrid schedule of 2 days in the office and 3 days optional remote. All AASCU staff are required to be fully vaccinated including boosters as recommended by the CDC schedule. Please note during public health matters, AASCU employees will be required to follow the guidance on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
