Job Title: Head Coach Women's Lacrosse
Classification: Full-time, 10-month, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Athletics
Job Summary/Objective: Sweet Briar College seeks a dynamic coach to lead its nearly century-old lacrosse program. The head coach is the person responsible for all aspects of leading a NCAA program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, development of student- athletes as athletes, scholars and leaders, competition preparation and strategy, supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling, alumni and public relations, fundraising, adherence to NCAA rules and regulations, and general administrative duties. The Head Coach will also be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and Mission of both the college and its Athletic program as well as adherence to departmental, college, and NCAA policies and procedures.
Additional duties will include one or more based upon qualifications: strength and conditioning, teaching activity classes, compliance, facility management, game management, or sports information. This individual will also assist with athletic department events including Athletic Banquet, Hall of Fame, golf tournament, and SAAC events/programming.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Will hire and supervise any assistant coaches associated with the lacrosse program
Essential Responsibilities: The Head Coach and his/her program will be evaluated for recruiting and competitive success, the extent to which coaches are providing a positive meaningful educational experience for student-athletes leading to their graduation, and the extent to which the Head Coach has established a sport culture in which he/she is viewed by the student-athlete(s) as a mentor, educator and role model.
Build and maintain all aspects of the Varsity Lacrosse Program, including practice plans, scheduling, travel arrangements,
Recruitment and retention of academically eligible students
Understanding of NCAA Rules and Compliance
Excellent organization and communication skills necessary.
Work Environment: The department of physical education, athletics, and recreation is a team-oriented, collaborative, competitive, inclusive, and results driven environment for the benefit of each team member representing the college in athletics. This job involves indoor and significant outdoor activities.
Physical Demands: Ability to work a varied daily schedule, including nights and weekends, as practice and game schedules allow, as well as recruiting events, and campus events as needed. Ability to physically perform most of the sport-skills and strength/conditioning training, with consistently lifting up to 30#. Field maintenance and the movement of goals and other equipment may be necessary. Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
Travel:
Travel as needed for competition and recruiting.
