Head Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Coordinator

 

Fort Worth Country Day (FWCD) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Coordinator.  The start date is June 1, 2024. 

 

The mission of the FWCD Athletic Department is to cultivate a team-first mentality while fostering a competitive spirit. Our student-athletes learn to win with humility, lose with grace, and compete with honor. The S&C program at FWCD provides an opportunity to develop the body, mind, character, and athleticism of both male and female students. The head S&C Coach will model hard work, leadership, and a growth mindset.

 

The Head S&C Coach will work closely with Program Directors and PE Department Chair. Successful candidates will embrace the mission and values of the School and be willing to act as a representative of FWCD in the Fort Worth community.

 

This position offers a tremendous opportunity to help grow a program at a leading independent school in one of our nation’s fastest growing cities. The successful candidate will work closely with the entire Athletics team to deliver a high-quality experience. During the academic day, the successful candidate will be a part of a two-person team to run S&C and Fitness (Physical Education) programming.  Outside of the school day, the successful candidate will provide support in the development and management of individual and team performance enhancement programs on behalf of FWCD’s Department of Athletics, for both in-season and off-season athletes.  Above all, the successful candidate should love working with adolescent athletes, recognize the power and importance of mentorship, lead by example, and support young people in their overall development. 

 

Based on the qualifications of the candidate and on the Athletic Department’s needs, Assistant Athletic Director responsibilities may be paired with the Head S & C role.  

 

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or closely related field
  • Certified through the NSCA or CSCCa
  • Prior experience as a coach at the collegiate and/or high school level
  • Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, coaching staff, and parents
  • Ability to teach, lead, and motivate student-athletes
  • Organizational and self-management skills; ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Dependable, ready to go above and beyond to reach goals
  • Collaborative disposition
  • Demonstrates knowledge in strength training and continuous professional growth by keeping informed of modern trends, techniques, and strategies.
  • Works in cooperation with athletic trainers in minimizing and rehabilitating injuries as well as the strengthening of injured athletes.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • May occasionally work nights or weekends
  • Work in a rigorous academic environment dealing with a wide variety of physical and intellectual challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Work primarily indoors, but may work intermittently in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
