School Nurse Substitute PRN

 

FWCD is seeking substitute RNs who exhibit maturity, flexibility, compassion and a positive, proactive, student-oriented style. The substitute RN PRN will be working in the school health clinic and will collaborate with multidisciplinary student support team members on campus, including Athletic Trainers and Division Counselors. This position reports to the Director of School Health Services

 

Purpose:  To provide, as needed, primary health and emergency care to students and staff, promote wellness, and serve as a resource for health concerns in the school setting.

 

Responsibilities:

To be performed in a manner consistent with professional standards, the Texas State Nurse Practice Act, state regulations and school policies:

  • Uses the nursing process to assess the health needs of students and staff.
  • Administers medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Provides care for student and staff illnesses and accidents.

 

Hours:

School day and aftercare coverage from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Texas RN or Compact license
  • Current BLS CPR certification
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Background check and fingerprinting required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field
  • Experience in pediatric and/or community or public health nursing
  • Prior experience in school nursing
