Description

Overview: The Fiber Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation of strand and lashing of fiber in the communications space of poles. The Aerial Lineman may assume a number of different responsibilities as described below in the execution of each new fiber project.

Reports to: Aerial Construction Foreman

Job Status: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

  • Place strand and associated hardware on pole infrastructure.
  • Lash or overlash fiber to new or existing strand.
  • Trim trees in aerial communications space
  • Serve as ground hand in aerial construction.
  • Prepare a worksite to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Load, unload and transport construction materials and tools.
  • Check utilities and clearances.
  • Safely and efficiently operate tools and equipment based on job requirements.
  • Assist with job site clean-up.
  • Must be willing to learn and assist with underground construction projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in climbing poles (gaff and ladder) and bucket truck operation.
  • Experience installing strand and fiber optic cables preferred.
  • Education in Utilities Construction preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and be capable of attaining a Chauffer's License or CDL.
  • Must be able to travel to Michigan or Indiana Projects approximately 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
