Part-time K/1 STEM Instructor

American Academy (AA) is accepting applications for a 0.5 FTE Part-Time Primary (K-1) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Program Instructor for the 2023-24 school year. American Academy provides an academically rigorous science and STEM curriculum. This position will travel between the three AA campuses to deliver instruction.

Responsibilities:

• Instruction of STEM Unit curricula for K 1^st grade classes, including the technical skills as well as habits of mind and emotional regulation skills.
• Work critically and creatively with STEM Department to maintain and develop the schools STEM program, including class curriculum and extracurricular activities
• Work as a positive, contributing team member with the K 1 classroom teachers and the STEM department to provide the best possible STEM education for each child
• Maintain positive parental relations, including timely communications of academic and behavioral progress and the staffing of STEM Department events
• Adhere to the mission and philosophy of American Academy

Requirements:

• A Colorado teaching license is preferred, but not required
• Love of tinkering or participation in the Maker movement
• Comfortable with technology, including the Windows suite
• Classroom experience teaching children in 2^nd grade or younger
• Strong classroom management skills, specifically when large classes are all working on individual or small-group projects that need help and oversight
• Preferred Experience:
  • Advanced educational technology expertise
  • Experience teaching STEM/science topics
  • Professional experience in a STEM field

Salary Range: $35.00 -$45.00 per hour
