The Department of Nursing at Illinois College invites applications for full-time faculty positions in the clinical BSN program, to start August 2023 or January 2024.  Strong preference for expertise in acute care medical-surgical nursing.

The successful candidates will have deep knowledge of and passion for the nursing profession as well as dedication to the education of future nurses. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential. Teaching duties include all levels of the clinical BSN program, including both classroom and clinical teaching. Faculty members are expected to engage in continuous improvement through assessment at the course and program levels, as well as in ongoing professional development as a practitioner and instructor.

Since 1829, Illinois College has transformed the lives of undergraduate students. Founded by abolitionists, IC was the first college in Illinois to graduate students and hosts a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The College is focused on student success and provides many opportunities for faculty-student interaction beyond the classroom, including collaborative research projects, international study-travel, and mentoring/advising. Nursing program offerings at Illinois College include the clinical BSN, the RN-to-BSN completion program (online), and the MSN (online). The Program is CCNE accredited.

Illinois College seeks candidates who have a commitment to working closely with a wide range of students. Currently, our population is approximately one-quarter students of color and 40% first-generation college students. Eagerness and ability to work with these populations is essential.

The College is located in historic Jacksonville, Illinois, 30 miles west of the capital city of Springfield and 80 miles north of St. Louis, Missouri.

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (doctorate preferred)

  • Unencumbered RN licensure in Illinois

  • Minimum of two years clinical practice experience

  • Successful college teaching experience strongly preferred; enthusiasm for working toward pedagogical excellence required

  • Intercultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations

  • Evidence of strong clinical skills and the ability to facilitate student learning in a clinical setting
