Position Summary:

Teacher Created Materials is a 40+ year old, award-winning educational publishing company. We are looking for a self-motivated energetic technology integrator to manage all aspects of Teacher Created Materials’ digital transformation.  As a key business leader, the VP of Technology will assess, analyze, develop, and execute both strategic and tactical plans while addressing existing and future Information Technology needs of the business. The Department Head serves as the Company's solution architect for evaluating new systems and processes as well as evaluating the streamlining of existing systems and processes.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Core Objectives

  • Define, develop, and deliver an IT roadmap and tech strategy that supports organizational growth initiatives
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives in alignment with company product vision
  • Develop IT governance policies from project intake through execution and delivery


  • Oversee technical infrastructure across the organization to promote optimal performance and process innovation
  • Responsible for the due diligence, selection, implementation, maintenance, and availability of network infrastructure
  • Maintain and ensure the reliable operation and availability of the company’s revenue generating systems through regular maintenance and disaster recovery/business continuity plans
  • Partner with the IT security suppliers to ensure that established security policies, standards and procedures are being executed across the IT technology landscape
  • Drive Service Desk policies to provide tools and automation to ensure a top-tier Service Desk experience
  • Track and manage the financial, physical, licensing, and contractual aspects of IT assets through their life cycle
  • Manage the company's technical infrastructure including telecommunications, data networks, servers, storage devices, and personal computer connectivity
  • Holds responsibility for IT budgeting projections on a company-wide basis
  • Experience managing the selection, evaluation, contracting and integration of externally available, hardware, software, and processes to deliver business solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years management experience in information technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.  Master’s Degree preferred
  • Superior ability to rapidly assess business conditions and solution technology
  • Ability to balance short and long-term priorities to obtain best results
  • Displays a propensity for developing and participating in a team environment
  • Communicates in a manner that is clear, concise, timely and understood by technical personnel, clients and client executives 
  • Proactively seeks ways to improve personal and departmental productivity and serves as a role model to others
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships with all levels of the enterprise
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems preferably NetSuite
  • Strong understanding of the configuration, maintenance, and integrity of databases
  • Strong understanding of network architecture
  • Accurate and attentive to details.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Travel will be less than 15%

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time, including at a computer.
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Travel will be less than 15%
