Description

 

Position Summary:      This position provides support to the residents and other participants of the Cardinal Manning Center program and ensures their safety and security, and that of guests, volunteers, and staff. Also, the position includes conducting inventory of supplies, re-supply, laundry, and assisting with maintaining the cleanliness of the facility. RA’s serve as positive role models to residents and peer staff members.

 

General Functions:

 

  1. Be an active and positive representative of SVDPLA at all times.
  2. Work as a member of a team with other RA staff, Case Management staff, and the Management team.
  3. Follow standard operating procedures, enforcing procedures and directions from supervisor.
  4. Addressing residents’ needs and conflict resolution in an empathic and professional manner.
  5. Monitoring the facilities to ensure resident safety and security, and intervene employing de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention techniques when there are client conflicts.  
  6. Participate in the effective operations of the shelter.
  7. Assist with Special Projects, Special Events’, including set up, take down, and other activities as assigned.
  8. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other events as assigned.
  9. Maintain and assist with clean up in operations, as necessary i.e., pack out room, penthouse, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, clean and supply restrooms and other duties assigned.
  10. Preparing reports, and other paperwork as required.
  11. Act as “greeter” for the community center front desk, overseeing congregate activities, mealtimes, television, computer lab use, floor activities, etc.
  12. Screen and sign-in and sign out residents, vendors, visitors, and volunteers in the facility.
  13. Stock inventory.
  14. Meal prep and distribution.
  15. Refer clients to case managers, social workers, and/or other service providers as needed.
  16. Monitor and assist clients coming in for programming by helping them locate the appropriate group activity or staff.
  17. Drive company vehicle to pick up meals, pick and drop off deliveries, and transport clients. (Only if assigned).

Qualifications

Qualifications: Experience working within a facility and/or with people experiencing homelessness, or with similar populations. Must possess a current and valid California Driver’s license in good standing.

 

Physical Requirements of the Job: Requires ability to stand for long periods of time, overnight work, driving, lifting, and carrying up to 25 pounds a distance of 10 feet, and a variety of other tasks. Flexibility to work varied shifts including evening, overnight and weekend may be required.
