Position: Payroll Assistant

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for assisting in the processing of company payroll and corporate time and attendance. The Payroll Assistant will report to the Payroll Administrator and will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. Assists with governmental reporting and compliance, and preparation of statistical reports.

 

Essential Functions

  • Gather and examine timesheets to ensure their validity
  • Provide assistance to employees with missing time punches and any employee related concerns with paycheck discrepancies
  • Provide assistance with payroll entry: create and import datasets into Paycom
  • Prepare payroll information needed for bi-weekly payroll processing and maintaining/organizing payroll records
  • Work with Human Resources to address any compensation-related concerns
  • Ensure benefit deductions are accurate
  • Log and mail hard copy paychecks
  • Prepare various reports for various departments as requested
  • Provides assistance to employees with navigation of ESS
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 year experience calculating and processing in-house payroll
  • High school Diploma
  • Prior experience with HR/Payroll ERP, time, and general ledger systems
  • Base knowledge of applicable Federal and State HR/Payroll Laws (FMLA, FLSA, e.g.) and IRS regulations that impact payroll
  • Must be detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Paycom a plus
