Position Title: Systems Administrator
Employment Classification: Full-time; Salary; Exempt

Reports to: Director of IT
Department: IT

Position Summary: The systems administrator assists in the day-to-day management and operation of the IT infrastructure for both the Orangewood Foundation and the Samueli Academy. This includes the supervision, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of hardware, software, end user devices, security systems, and SaaS solutions.


Major Areas of Responsibility:
o Responsible for maintenance, configuration, and operation of virtual server environment and corporate network.
o Troubleshoot hardware and software errors, documenting problems and resolutions, assessing impact of issues, and communicating with affected users.
o Image and deploy devices to staff and students.
o Manage SaaS platforms used internally including Azure, Office365, Egnyte, GSuite, and others.
o Work with the rest of the IT Staff to serve the needs of staff, faculty, and students across six sites and two datacenters.
o Administration of phone systems and physical security infrastructure, including video surveillance and access control systems.
o Provide helpdesk support for onsite staff and end users as needed.


Knowledge, Skill and Experience Requirements:
o Bachelors degree preferred.
o MCSE/MCSA, CCNA certifications strongly preferred.
o 2+ years of experience in Systems Administration.
o 3+ years of experience in IT Support.
o Experience with Microsoft Azure Active Directory and InTune MDM.
o Experience with Windows Server and its related components (DHCP, DNS, AD, etc).
o Knowledge of server virtualization technology and backups, VMware preferred.
o Strong Knowledge of security, data backup, and disaster recovery.
o Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco network equipment.
o Strong written and oral communication skills.
o Comfortable presenting oneself in community settings.
o Possess a valid California drivers license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
o Must be able to pass a criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, and drug screen.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Position may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.)


Modification to work schedule may be made based on need of the Foundation.
