POSITION SUMMARY:

The Estate, Trust, and Charitable Tax Senior Manager is an expert in the trust and estate practice area. They will be an internal resource and also provide guidance to clients regarding gift and estate tax planning, charitable planning and advise on tax minimization strategies in this area of the tax law.  They will manage existing client relationships and actively develop new business opportunities. They are a strategic thinker with the business acumen to be forward looking to continue expanding a growing practice.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Handle complex trust and estate planning, gift and charitable planning, and administration and tax compliance matters for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Provide fiduciary income tax and estate and tax administration services, including fiduciary accounting, to individuals and corporate fiduciaries, as well as supervise the preparation of estate and gift tax returns.
  • Supervise complex estate and high net worth consulting engagements.
  • Review trust documents, last will and testaments, buy sell agreements and other estate planning documents.
  • Provide quality control of complex gift and estate tax returns.
  • Keep up with changes in tax and case law, statutory changes and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Assist and develop processes and procedures for trust and estate practice.
  • Develop strong working relationships and interface with directors, managers and key leaders across the firm to provide comprehensive financial and estate planning solutions.
  • Lead, mentor and manage professional growth and development of staff.
  • Prepare thought leadership pieces for internal and external circulation.
  • Lead lunch and learns to teach and develop others in the trust and estate practice area.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 - 15 years estate planning and trust experience
  • CFP, CPA, JD or LLM preferred
  • Ten (10) or more years of prior public accounting and/or law firm experience
  • Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role beneficial
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with tax research and planning software
  • Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and analyzing problems logically and comprehensively, distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant information
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters in a tactful and discreet manner
  • Ability to interface with a variety of management levels
  • Ability to think creatively in seeking optimal solutions for client
