Overview

The Program/SmartHOME Manager will oversee and optimize the operations of our SmartHOME facility while spearheading the development of innovative programs and the CU DEEP Wellness Initiative. He/she is responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of SmartHOME and devising programs that enhance its utilization and impact. This position reports to the Math and Computer Science department chair. The Program/SmartHOME Manager will primarily work on-site at Claflin University, with occasional off-site activities and meetings. This position may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate evening or weekend events. Occasional travel may be necessary to attend conferences, workshops, or meetings with external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management:

  • Take charge of day-to-day operations within the SmartHOME facility.
  • Supervise the maintenance and functionality of SmartHOME technologies, ensuring they are operational and up to date.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and service providers to resolve any technical issues promptly.

Program Development:

  • Conceptualize, plan, and develop programs that leverage SmartHOME technologies to benefit the community or organization.
  • Conduct research to identify emerging trends and technologies that can be integrated into SmartHOME programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring program ideas to fruition, including designing curriculum, setting objectives, and developing implementation strategies.

Staff Supervision:

  • Lead and mentor SmartHOME personnel, ensuring their training and development to meet program and operational requirements.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the SmartHOME team.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including university faculty, students, researchers, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, research centers, and community organizations to promote SmartHOME’s mission and expand its reach.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Implement data collection and analysis protocols to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of SmartHOME programs.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, highlighting key performance metrics, trends, and insights, to inform decision-making. Perform other duties within the scope of this position.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management, or a related discipline). A Master's degree is preferred. Proven experience in managing operations, ideally in a technology-driven environment. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Innovative mindset with a demonstrated history of program development and implementation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in technology and an understanding of SmartHOME systems and IoT technologies is advantageous.
