SUMMARY

The Catering and Hospitality intern will be exposed to all aspects of food/beverage operations related to a race meet and special events. This intern will also learn all aspects of the catering business related to thoroughbred racing, including planning, operations, customer service and day-to-day operations. This internship will work closely with different mentors to gain inside knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes with leading a food service and hospitality organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Will gain exposure to many different facets of the Hospitality business and will increase the cross-functional understanding in each of these departments.
    • Concessions, Culinary, Dining, Finance, Logistics, and Special Events
  • Work days will revolve around our core business of Racing and Sales, with exposure to our Special Events.
  • The intern will experience training and development from various team members on the hospitality team.
  • Provide an overall exemplary experience to every guest and focus primarily on general hospitality and the food service industry.
  • Maintain Keeneland standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Some shifts will include nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interns must be available on weekends and have a flexible class schedule to hold office hours during both race meet and non-race meet months.
    • (Approximately 20-25 hours per week)
  • The ability to successfully demonstrate flexibility is critical; as you may be placed in one area and moved to another based upon the circumstances presented.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office suite are highly recommended.
  • Food/beverage experience is not required but is highly recommended.
  • Must be willing to work quickly and efficiently.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
