Description

Responsible for assisting the finance department in completing daily responsibilities as determined by the Senior Director of Finance. Such duties will include vendor setup and invoice processing, records storage and retention, obtaining and inputting customer information, documentation of accounting processes and internal controls, inputting racing revenue and expense data, and assisting with research projects. Other duties may be assigned. Work schedule will be 15 to 20 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Enter miscellaneous cash deposits into accounting system.
  • Scan vendor invoices and attach to payment vouchers.
  • Pull and copy invoices for fixed assets and sales/use taxes monthly.
  • Assist purchasing manager in obtaining quotes and proposals from vendors.
  • Contacting customers to obtain account information required for 1099 reporting.
  • Assist with preparing written documentation of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Assisting Senior Racing Accountant with obtaining and inputting racing revenues and expenses and preparing daily analysis of race day operations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED equivalent, completion of at least 2 years of college with an emphasis in accounting or finance. Must be currently enrolled in college. Experience in the equine industry and/or horse racing a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Kentucky Horse Racing Commission License. Provided to employee upon hire.
