Description

Purpose: To provide the basic duties of the Shipping and Receiving Specialist position at Milsco by operating in a safe, productive, and efficient manner. This is a 1st shift position working Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with weekend work as necessary. Work schedule is subject to change according to the needs of the company and/or department. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming raw materials, components, supplies etc.; ensure accuracy of order received in system against shipping document; may conduct initial inspection of the condition of materials
  • Utilize company software to enter and manage inventory of incoming and outgoing materials, supplies and products
  • Ensure incoming material is placed in the proper location
  • Conducts a weekly yard audit and ensures system locations match trailer audits
  • Ensure orders are accurately packed, staged and ready for shipment on scheduled day/time
  • Assist with loading of outgoing trucks and inbound as needed
  • Conducts cycle counts against system and assist in problem solving variances 
  • Assist with annual physical inventory
  • Serves as back up material handler support for shipping or receiving and factory support as needed
  • Works with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Accounts Payable and other company departments to address part location and shortages or paperwork discrepancies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience with shipping and receiving preferred
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Data entry with computer skills
  • Forklift certified with ability to operate as needed

Work Conditions/ Physical Demands: Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day while performing the duties of this job.  The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Required to climb stairs, kneel, crouch, carry containers in hands, and handle cleaning chemicals. Must be able to move or lift up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to perform the essential functions of his/her job with or without accommodation, and without any direct threat to the health or safety of others.
