Description

The Northbrook Park District is now hiring on-course golf services staff for starter and player assistant positions at Heritage Oaks Golf Club.

Wage & Shift Information

$14.00 per hour 

This is an outdoor, seasonal position that requires approximately 12-24 hours of work per week including weekdays, weekend, evenings and holidays. Golf department employees also enjoy playing and practice privileges, discounts on golf merchandise and at Acorn Grill + Terrace.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and an excellent player experience for all guests
  • Ensure guests understand and adhere to golf club rules, maintain tee time intervals and ensure proper pace-of-play on the course. 
  • Proactively communicate with guests, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Maintain open communication of tee time status and on-course play with golf shop and other on-course staff (starters, player assistants, bag drop).
  • Starters will verify appropriate payment for green fees, golf cars, and push carts.
  • Starters will keep accurate records for golf car rentals and start and finish times; continually report tee time status to golf shop and on-course player assistants.
  • Ensure the course looks presentable at all times; uphold proper presentation of the first tee box and surrounding area, golf course signage and golf car traffic restrictions; pick-up and discard debris left on course.

Qualifications

General knowledge of the game of golf, golf terminology, etiquette, and equipment along with a general interest in the game of golf. Must have an ability to provide positive customer service and communicate effectively with all guests. Have a valid Illinois driver’s license in order to safety operate a golf car. Must be able to efficiently maintain organized on-course play.

Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
