Description

The Industrial Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods, performing time studies, designing and justifying modifications, designing and justifying new operational processes, designing and justifying new productional and operational layouts, implementing improvements to operator ergonomics and safety, and ensures the development and accuracy of work instructions.

 

Qualifications

A. PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform detailed time studies on existing processes.
  • Design and justify modifications to production processes/fixtures/tools that improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Design and justify new operational process/layouts that integrate all floor level operations with production.
  • Design and justify new production layouts that support company strategic goals.
  • Implement improvements to operator ergonomics and safety.
  • Ensure the development and accuracy of work instructions
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency through continuous improvements, which encompasses; root cause analysis and corrective actions, analyzing and planning workflow, process improvements and manufacturing area layout improvements.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes and associate training.
  • Provides manufacturing decision making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Provides expert opinion in future product development decisions by providing cost estimates, manufacturability reviews and internal or vendor manufacturing process capabilities.
  • Provides necessary training and guidance to other manufacturing engineers and assembly staff members.
  • Maintains product and process compliance to meet requirements of various regulatory agencies including FDA and ISO certification compliance.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Maintains product and process database by updating ERP system. Conducts time studies and process studies to drive manufacturing cost calculations and plant capacity calculations.
  • Participates in new product development team and occasionally performs project management responsibilities for new product development projects.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies. 

B. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering or comparable experience
  • At least two years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work with computer-based ERP systems.
