Claims Advocate- Property
Job Details

Job Summary: Responsible for receiving new Property claim first notices via phone or e-mail from insureds; reporting them to the appropriate carrier and following up to ensure timely and complete resolution. Also responsible for assisting with education of broker employees and clients relative to claims process. Position will work with various individuals including broker, client, and carrier.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance on coverage and perform analysis of coverage-related issues for clients and network to facilitate the settlement and payment of claims
  • Claim advice/subsequent movements: supervise the notification of the claim, subsequent advice(s) and settlement to carriers using internal procedures
  • Carefully handle the claims negotiation process with clients, underwriters and or their appointed legal representatives and or loss adjusters
  • Facilitate the resolution of any outstanding coverage issues, with the support of the Head of Advocacy and other claims advocates as appropriate
  • Be able to proactively anticipate and present to clients the best strategy to resolve the claim
  • Negotiate the payment and settlement of claims with clients and underwriters
  • Engage, monitor, and manage third party providers
  • Technical support for pre-renewal meetings, placing and renewal negotiations
  • Issuance of timely, accurate and clear instructions to the outsourcer to enable claims to be processed either directly or via claims handler / Advocate
  • Conduct data analysis to establish the claims history for a client or business portfolio, and to identify trends and patterns in claims for a client or business segment
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5 -10 years experience with property lines claims in a commercial insurance environment broker or insurer
  • Knowledge of Commercial Property forms and coverages for appropriate claims reporting
  • Ability to be maintain claims workload in a fast-paced environment within broker-established time frames to ensure the highest level of service for our clients
