Middle School English Instructor

American Academy (AA) is currently accepting applications for Middle School English teachers for 2023-24 academic year. This position teaches English daily which includes instruction of reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. American Academy provides an academically rigorous curriculum which integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math across all content areas. Our foundation is based on the Core Knowledge Sequence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work as a positive team member with the other English department members to provide the best possible literacy education
• Daily upkeep of grades and homework in Infinite Campus and updates on webpage
• Maintain good parental relations and communication of progress and concerns
• Adhere to mission and philosophy of American Academy
• Regular attendance and active participation at meetings with various teams
• Service to students extending beyond the classroom
• Adhere to all AA policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in education, English or related field
• Secondary Education Teaching License and the ability to meet the NCLB standard highly qualified; required
• Ability to differentiate instruction for all aptitudes
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience on building essential writing skills, developing fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and oral language
• Open to bringing innovative tech solutions into the classroom

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Teaching in highly performing charter schools
• Teaching in an environment with high levels of parent participation
• Practical knowledge of progress monitoring/data driven instruction practices
• Core Knowledge Sequence
• High-level instructional technology integration skills
• Practical knowledge of the SMART BOARD interactive whiteboard platform
