Job Title: Senior Associate, Group Sales (Outside Sales)

Department: Marketing

Reports to: Marketing Revenue Manager

Compensation Range: $42,000-$75,000*

Compensation range is an estimate, inclusive of base salary and forecasted commission potential. Actual total compensation could be lower or higher based on individual performance.

Status: Regular, full-time, exempt from overtime

 

Summary:

The Senior Associate of Group Sales (Outside Sales) plays a pivotal role in expanding the Houston Symphony’s audience through strategic group engagements. As the primary contact for many groups, this position drives sales strategy, builds meaningful relationships, develops innovative sales initiatives, and directly contributes to exceeding our group sales goals. This is a key role responsible for revenue growth with objective sales targets.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Fuel audience growth: Proactively secure group ticket sales through creative outreach, strategic partnerships with businesses and community organizations, and exclusive package development.
  • Become a sales maestro: Analyze data, identify trends, and craft winning sales strategies to entice new and existing groups to experience the magic of the Houston Symphony.
  • Craft exceptional experiences: Manage the entire group sales journey, from initial contact to ticketing, billing, and on-site event execution, ensuring a seamless and unforgettable experience for each group.
  • Expand our reach: Cultivate and nurture relationships with key partners, including cultural institutions, businesses, and concierge services, broadening access to the Symphony's artistry.
  • Embrace a collaborative spirit: Partner with marketing, development, and artistic teams to develop impactful initiatives, contribute to cross-departmental projects, and shape the future of the Houston Symphony experience.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the Houston Symphony Society.

Qualifications

 

  • Proven track record of success in B2B sales or a similar customer-facing role, exceeding targets and building lasting relationships.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role where you met or exceeded goals.
  • Passionate about the arts, ideally with classical music knowledge, and eager to share your enthusiasm with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to captivate potential clients and close deals.
  • Masterful organizer and time manager, juggling multiple priorities with laser focus and a dedication to efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM or ticketing systems, like Tessitura or Salesforce, is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Positive attitude, dedication to exceptional customer service, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, including some holidays.
