Part-time Facilities Custodial Technician

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Performs custodial maintenance duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning of restrooms, employee break area, kitchen area, common areas, offices, Dispatch Operations area, Administrative area, and Basement.  Restocking supplies in restrooms, employee break area, basement, kitchen areas and other areas as needed. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Assists with snow removal. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities are all essential functions of the position of Facility Technician.  They are not in order of importance or priority.

1. Dusting of all offices, communications center, and common areas.  
2. Cleans and mops tiled floors in kitchen area, employee break area, restrooms and common areas.
3. Vacuums carpeted areas.
4. Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies.
5. Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
6. Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal.
7. Secures doors after cleaning certain areas.
8. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
9. Cleans windows of all offices and lower Dispatch Operation and Common Area.
10. Maintains inventory for cleaning supplies, restroom, kitchen and coffee area supplies. Other general supplies as needed.
11. Assists with snow removal.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSSESSION OF OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN THE FOLLOWING LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid unrestricted Colorado Driver’s License or Colorado Identification Card

KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
• Remains calm and controlled under stressful situations. 
• Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. 
• Interpersonal skills – Applies emotional intelligence skills, understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, and politeness to others and relates well to different people from varied backgrounds and in different situations. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Degree or Equivalent
• 1 Year Experience, preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check, if required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and unpleasant odors.
