TITLE: Benefits Account Manager

DEPARTMENT: Benefits

REPORTS TO: Managing Director, Employee Benefits FLSA: Non-exempt, Full-time

 

Position Summary

This position is responsible for carrying out day-to-day account management responsibilities as assigned by the VP of Client Services, Producer and/or Account Executive on their team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical support to Producers on new and renewal accounts.
  • Maintains in-house support for clients.
  • Takes initiative to handle all Account Management activities, including direct client contact, with very little support from VP of Client Services, Producer, and/or Account Executive.
  • Maintains a professional and friendly communication with clients, insurance carriers, general agents, vendors, and internally always. Apprises the Producer of any unusual activity on accounts.
  • Acts as backup for overflow and/or absent benefits team members to support client needs and deadlines.
  • Attends client meetings and acts as the primary contact on group accounts as assigned by and with assistance from the VP of Client Services, Producer, and/or Account Executive.
  • Monitor the setup and maintenance of client files according to department systems and procedures.
  • Assists in retrieving carrier information, setting up the file and inputting information into internal systems.
  • Helps Producer and/or Account Executive run quotes, put together presentations, conduct open enrollment meetings and manage any carrier requirements for both small and large group renewals.
  • Acknowledges and responds to any client requests within a two-hour time period. Sets timeline expectations with clients if an issue will take time to be resolved.
  • Performs other tasks on projects as needed/assigned.
  • Manages and maintains benefits websites and makes sure mobile apps are up.
  • Responsible for negotiating on behalf of clients with specific claim exceptions, any administrative exceptions, and amendments to contracts.
  • Responsible for CMS filings, SPDs and other annual compliance requirements following current Renewal checklist/tasks.
  • Keeps current on industry trends and products.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills) Account management experience.

  • Previous Human Resources experience preferable.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits practices and procedures.
  • Excellent and consistent communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; specifically, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to interpret data and make cost effective decisions.
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures.
  • Working knowledge and experience with EaseCentral.
  • Knowledge of Epic systems is desirable.

Requirements:

  • Active DOI Life and Health Insurance license
  • At least two years of Benefits experience
  • Education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits.
  • Work schedule: 8:30am 5:00pm M-F
