Director of Talent Development

This new position at Cornerstone will play a strategic role in attracting, developing, and retaining its best employees. The Director will design and, in some instances, deliver corporate development programs that align with company objectives, culture, philosophy, and strategy. These programs include the continued development of Cornerstone University, our organizational training, education, and professional development initiative to grow our team's skills, competencies, and leadership qualities. Additionally, the Director will lead the design and execution of the Cornerstones internship program. The Director will help our HR Leader, Practice Leaders, and management team analyze ongoing and future development needs.

 

 

Essential functions and responsibilities of the job include:

General

  • Work with HR Leaders to construct Cornerstone's talent-development program; onboarding, training, mentoring, professional development, education, etc.
  • Assist HR leaders, consultants, and operational leaders in developing curriculum and content for all training in all delivery mediums. This includes videos, study guides, case studies, webinars, content quizzes, knowledge check-ins, self-study, comprehension exams, mentorship, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring success on all talent development initiatives according to an established set of Key Performance Indicators (including return on investment).
  • Stay abreast of development trends in professional services companies and modify training programs as needed.
  • Ensure all development content remains current and relevant, update and design new methods and curriculum as needed.
  • Provide engaging communications about program information to encourage participation and highlight the value and benefits of professional development.
  • Establish/oversee relationships with outside vendors involved with our talent-development program.
  • Assist HR leaders responsible for recruiting to ensure that potential hires possess skillsets aligned with talent development priorities.
  • Assist HR leaders at Cornerstone who manage and guide the firm's annual performance management process to ensure that measurement, evaluation, and performance assessments are aligned with talent development priorities.

 

Cornerstone University

  • Work with senior leaders to create Cornerstone University. This includes fine-tuning the design, structure, delivery methodology, curriculum, process, timeline, relevance, etc.

 

Internship Program

  • Manage the intern process and act as the day-to-day go-to manager to ensure interns have a point person during the program.
  • Direct interns to the proper mentor/leader for instruction and guidance. Work with leaders to develop intern curriculum, appropriate client assignments, and program content.

Orientation

  • Manage the new hire professional development and onboarding experience.

 

Talent Retention and Growth

  • Collaborate with Cornerstone colleagues to identify high potential individuals, determine work abilities and professional support needed to engage and retain talent.
  • Provide career and talent assessments.
  • Utilize leadership development strategies, tools, and processes to identify development needs and employee competencies.
  • Leverage assessments to fill critical skill gaps, identify employee readiness, talent gaps, and retention risks.
  • Work with Cornerstone colleagues to ensure that employees have access to resources and sufficient challenges so that the necessary conditions are in place that employees can grow, thrive, and enjoy a high level of job satisfaction.

Education & Credentials

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts (or equivalent) in a business discipline.
  • Formal human resources and talent development experience are required.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred.
  • 5+ years in HR management, including at least two years developing and implementing a formal training program.
  • Experience working in a professional services firm (i.e., management consulting, legal, accounting, technology) preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of all Microsoft Office tools and resources.

This position is based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
