Association Director of School-Age Programs is responsible for supporting high-quality and safe experiences for all children in our school-age programs. By working as an active participant with both association team members and local YMCA child care leaders, the Association Director of School Age Programs uses best practices, skilled leadership, and relationship building to improve program quality, ensure regulatory compliance, support the recruitment and development of quality staff and expand the depth and scope of YNS child care operations throughout our service area. The YMCA of the North Shore has 34  After School Sites.

On an average day you will provide oversight for the development, implementation, quality, and administration of all out-of-school time programs and improve the quality of programming across all sites by ensuring consistency in program quality and sharing of best practices across all sites. The Association Director of School Age programs should understand assigned local childcare markets to support the development and licensing of new sites and opportunities for expansion throughout the Association while maintaining positive and proactive communication with community stakeholders, state licensing, and regulatory agencies in both MA and NH.   

The Association Director of School Age programs will collaboratively develop, plan, strategize, and secure resources needed for growth and will also perform necessary audits, reporting, training, and support to ensure sites are in compliance with all regulations at all times. To thrive in this role the director will model relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community, they will also work with Human Resources to develop proactive recruiting and sourcing strategies to attract high-quality staff while working with directors to develop effective retention strategies. The director will also assist with the development of ongoing staff training and implement programs and plans to meet both licensing requirements to ensure that Y staff are provided with continuing education opportunities appropriate to their role.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in education, human services, social services, or equivalent. Master's degree preferred but not required.

  2. Five or more years of management experience in early childhood or out-of-school time programming, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

  3. Meet the MA Department of Early Education and Care’s requirements for a School Age program director.

  4. Ability to influence operations through deep knowledge of school-age program licensing, best practices, and strong relationship-building skills

  5. Strong communication skills both written and verbal

  6. A desire and ability to relate effectively with and advocate for diverse groups of people.

  7. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
