In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide facilitation for the Older Individuals who are Blind (OIB) Program. This position has duties related to the implementation of the OIB grant program at Wayfinder Family Services. As the OIB Program Coordinator you will provide services by implementing administrative systems, procedures, and policies for the OIB Program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in marketing of OIB Program though outreach activities for the purpose of recruiting individuals to participate in the education and training available through the program.
- Conducts outreach and networking with senior living facilities, senior centers, and other locations throughout Los Angeles County for the purpose of connecting to seniors in the community who would benefit from the services offered through the program.
- Facilitates training workshops, support groups and other methods of implementing the program. Assists OIB Program Instructors in locating resources to be used for training workshops and one-on-one home instruction.
- Assists in preparing, modifying, and filing reports and documentation as necessary, including daily summaries of activities, tracking of instruction hours and transportation/mileage, and assist with analysis of overall program effectiveness.
- Maintains an inventory of adaptive equipment/assistive technology for OIB Instructors to issue to OIB clients, including purchasing inventory, tracking when it is issued, and replenishing inventory as needed.
- Communicates with staff, consumers, and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, and answers to questions within realm of the position and title.
- Develops and facilitate workshops or meetings, coordinates logistics, scheduling, and OIB/consumer communications.
- Coordinates the monthly collection and preparation of billing information and documents required by the California Department of Rehabilitation for the OIB grant.
- Maintains workflow by studying methods; implementing cost reductions; and developing reporting procedures.
- Assists with payroll activities for employment services staff.
- Provides information to individuals and families about Medi-Cal services, refers to Medi-Cal eligibility sites and assist with access to Medi-Cal covered services to meet identified health needs. Participates in outreach campaigns, information, and referral activities, including health and Medi-Cal outreach.
- DPI Scheduling (preparing the weekly DPI class schedule / communicating with staff and students)
- DPI Attendance (Updating the master DPI student daily schedule)
- DPI Communication:
- Communicate with DOR counselors / coordinators / supervisors on authorizations or any issues having to do with their consumers.
- Communicate with any speakers or resources for DPI student body meetings or creating material for meetings.
- DPI Tracking all numbers and percentages for attendance, program success, and authorizations.
- Maintaining all DPI student files and making sure all files are up to date and current – Also in charge of Welligent Input.
