LOCATION: Keshet Therapeutic Day School / Solomon Schechter Day School, Northbrook, IL

SUPERVISOR: Therapeutic Day School Manager

WAGES: $60,000 $70,000 Annual

JOB STATUS: Full-time / 12-month Contract / Salary / Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Licensed teachers work with students in our self-contained special education classroom. The teacher will focus on student education and engagement with academic, nonacademic, social, health, behavioral and emotional needs of the students in the special education and general community environments.

The teacher will provide supported instruction and strategies to Para-educators and individual students, small groups of students as well as monitor students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All case management
  • Development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs, Behavior Plans, student assessments and data collection and analysis
  • Development, implementation, and monitoring of instructional, behavioral, daily living, personal care, independent living goals, and designing active community-based instruction
  • Partners with related service personnel to meet the IEP needs of students
  • Classroom staff management
  • Site management
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Transition planning and experience with transition programming preferred
  • Job responsibilities may include lifting and physical management
  • Driving is required to access the community

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold or be eligible for LBS-1 and/or LBS-2
  • Experience working with students with significant special needs to include autism, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
  • Experience implementing community-based instruction
  • Must maintain a current certification in CPR and Safety Care, provided through Keshet
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Be respectful and follow Jewish culture and guidelines set forth in the personnel manual.
  • Adhere to Keshet policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
