The Arc Central Chesapeake Region supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live, work, and connect with their communities.
As the Housing Counselor, you will support people with disabilities access and maintain Public Housing and Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and access adequate housing. The Housing Counselor will work with Chesapeake Neighbors to facilitate the housing choice voucher administrative compliance and complete other housing subsidy related support.
This position will work in partnership with the person-served, their family, Program and Finance teams, as well as the Benefits Counselor to ensure that all housing resources and entitlements are handled properly, and representative payee relationships are maintained in accordance with proper procedures. You will assist in the expansion of Housing Support Services (HSS) to include those already supported by The Arc and begin outreach to those outside the agency, so the Housing Counselor must have the ability to remain calm under pressure, multitask and maintain calm under tight timelines.
