Description

We are looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer specializing in the recreational industry, you will be responsible for the design, innovation and documentation of the company’s product using sound engineering principles and practices. You must perform engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives including timely development of drawings, bills of material, instructions, etc. while meeting the company and customer design standards. This individual will have a lead role in the design of custom and complex products which may include coordinating, overseeing, and checking projects of other engineers and designers. Leveraging your expertise and Professional Engineering (PE) license, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and functionality of these structures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Seals drawings as a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and provides sealed engineering packages for presentation to customers and includes drawings (with drafting assistance), calculations, footer sizes.
  2. Performs calculations to support proper material sizing and selection.
  3. Performs analysis of designs to ensure that all internal and external standards are met including calculations, forces, and loads.
  4. Builds and tests prototypes, works with contractors or vendors as needed.
  5. Assists with materials pricing, vendor selection, and project estimating.
  6. Evaluates current designs for cost-cutting and implementing easier or more efficient manufacturing methods.
  7. Assists in developing and maintaining company design standards to streamline the engineering process for each project.
  8. Performs load analysis on steel-frame structures, typically open single-story buildings (such as playgrounds and playground shades)
  9. Mentors junior engineers and draftsmen
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum five years post-graduate experience with at least two or three years being spent as a PE.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required with ability to obtain licenses in multiple states as business needs dictate. California is preferred.
  • Proven experience in structural engineering, with a focus on recreational facilities or similar complex structures.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., RISA or STAAD), working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is a plus, and other relevant engineering software.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position works in a standard office environment containing furniture and equipment needed to conduct common business activities. These items include desks, chairs, cubicle walls, phone systems and cords, fax machines, copiers, conference room tables, computer systems and file cabinets.


Travel

  • Minimum travel will be required up to 10% between job sites or facilities.
