Job Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated individual who either currently has or would like to pursue knowledge of construction management and inspection procedures and the ability to attain a working knowledge of: Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regulations, as well as safety, environmental, and local agency design standards. This position actively supports the Construction Management team on a variety of projects in order to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to become a Construction Inspector (including ODOT prequalification as a Project Inspector).
As a Construction Technician I at Environmental Design Group, you will actively engage in assigned construction projects, including:
- Operating computer equipment, software programs, and field inspection equipment
- Reading and interpreting roadway, utility, and bridge plans and contract specifications
- Applying mathematical formulas to determine field adjustments
- Performing required materials testing and documentation of results
- Maintaining detailed records of the construction activities
- Communicating effectively with project team members, agency and contractor personnel, and the public
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or an equivalency.
- No technical or field experience is required for this position.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft products and can quickly learn new software programs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a temporary full-time position, with most of the time spent outdoors. Occasional evening work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Must have a valid driver's license and possess a driving record that will enable the employee to be insurable under the Company's standard vehicle insurance and general comprehensive liability insurance without additional costs to the Company.
