JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Arts & Leisure Director, the Arts & Leisure Assistant provides residents with and at-home ambiance and feeling by planning trips, tours, religious outings, group meetings, and other social activities to enhance the physical, social, spiritual, and mental well-being of each resident. The Arts & Leisure Assistant respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. This is a safety sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.

 

  • Coordinate, promote and execute events, activities and programs
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities
  • Contribute to, proofread and distribute monthly activities calendar and newsletter
  • Recruit resident volunteers and maintain volunteer database for volunteer recognition
  • Assist with set up and clean up areas as needed for various activities
  • Attend in-service trainings and meetings as scheduled
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

The essential mental and physical functions listed below are required in order for an employee to be able to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Ability to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Thinking critically; defined as reading, understanding, and taking appropriate action on detailed and complex information.
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Walking long distances daily
  • Lifting, pushing and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • Repetitive actions/motion of one or both hands
  • Hearing ordinary conversation and office sounds
  • Verbal communication in person and on the phone
  • Written communication by hand and on PC
  • Work schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Creativity and imagination
  • One or more years of experience in recreational or occupational therapy related areas preferred
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office suite
