Job Title: Accounting Clerk    

Job Status: Part Time – Non-Exempt

Division: Administration

Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center

Reports To: Superintendent of Finance

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Essential Job Duties                                                                                                                                       

  • Prepares daily deposits for various Park District locations and updates revenue spreadsheet.
  • Prepares temporary banks for special events.
  • Performs the interface between sub-systems G1 and Rec Trac into the General Ledger Financial Software.
  • Balances daily cash receipts prepared by all departments to financial reports, noting and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Initiates the file transfer to the ACH system to process debits for payment plans.
  • Assists in preparation of reports as assigned.
  • Researches and collects all NSF checks and rejects in the direct debit accounts.
  • Handles cash change orders.
  • Prepares and reviews A/R aging and forwards aging to staff monthly.
  • Prepares and enter journal entries in the financial software system.
  • Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
  • Attends all meetings when appropriate.
  • Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.  
  • Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, recognition and appreciation, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
  • Assists with coding, inputting and filing of Accounts Payable.
  • Answers inquiries from employees.
  • Assists general public.            
  • Participates on committees.

Qualifications

Position Requirements                                                                                                                      

Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of a high school degree or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in a computerized environment including spreadsheets, word processing, and application software is essential. Analytical skills are necessary.

   Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
  • CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days.

Working Conditions                                                                                                                                      

  • Most activities will be performed indoors.
  • Driving to other park facilities will require the worker to be outside.
  • Employee may be exposed to cleaning agents and toner chemicals.
