Position Objective

The Dining Specialist will support the Shift Supervisor/Chef to accomplish the department goals and in compliance with Carolina Creek’s mission, vision and values. As part of the Operations team, the Dining Specialist is to collaborate in providing Christian hospitality for our guests and leading their teammates to do the same, by example. They are responsible to model a genuine lifestyle of Christian discipleship in a manner consistent with Carolina Creek’s mission, vision and values. 

 

Job Type

Part-Time Hourly $10.00 - $13.00 (depending on experience)

 

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Set up and clean Salad bar

  • Set up and clean Condiment bar

  • Pan food for serving

  • Assist with food preparation as assigned, e.g. , panning food and chopping vegetables

  • Serving line preparation

  • Supervise the Serving Line and replenish food when running low

  • Running food from the cook to the serving line and/or from the kitchen to salad/buffet service areas

  • Fill and clean drink and ice machines

  • Wash dishes using the dishwasher and/or wash pots/pans

  • Garbage removal and clean up

  • Complete the Master Cleaning list daily including wiping down counters, tables, and cabinets, sweeping and mopping the floors

  • Receiving shipments of food and other items, sorting and organizing them according to instructions

  • Actively participate in and contribute to the broader camp programs of Carolina Creek

  • Actively engage and participate in the staff community through a godly attitude, words and actions

Qualifications

General Qualifications

The Dining Specialist must be a mature follower of Jesus, still growing and developing in their faith. They must be fully in accord with Carolina Creek’s mission statement, and statement of beliefs; committed to living these out personally, and instilling them in the organization. They must be of strong moral character and integrity.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Current Texas Food Handlers certification

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • Must have a current valid drivers license

 

Work Experience

  • Food Service experience preferred

  • Experience in Camping Ministry preferred 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be trainable, willing to ask questions where knowledge is lacking, and open to performance feedback

  • Must possess good communication skills and be proficient in reading and speaking English

  • Must possess interpersonal skills

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be able to read and understand English as required for the job, (e.g. schedules, emails, etc.)

  • Must be able to use a digital application to document hours, and to send/receive texts and emails related to scheduling, changes, or other instructions.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in hot and humid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and ability to lift/carry anywhere from 15 to over 60 lbs. Must be able to see at close distances for food prep and paperwork as well as across the kitchen and dining room for instructing guests related to safety. Must be able to hear and give instructions and commands at the distance across the kitchen or dining room. Must be able to understand and communicate in English.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.

  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

  • Assurance of reliable transportation at whatever work hours are required.
