About the opportunity:

C&I is a full service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients. We are currently seeking a Plant Design Designer to help us achieve our company mission. The Plant Design team is responsible for preparing studies, sketches, drawings and models of equipment arrangements and piping layouts as well as performing a variety of computer-based modeling, design and planning tasks on projects.


We are diversifying and working on some of the largest and most complex projects in various industries such as Refining, Bourbon, Chemical, BioProducts… You name it! Responsibilities include:

  • Creating equipment arrangements utilizing vendor data and design criteria.
  • Prepares models, drawings and design sketches using related documents and directions given by a senior designer or engineer either verbally or in writing.
  • Designs piping layouts and 3D models for complex systems utilizing P&IDs, pipe specifications, EA’s and vendor data, along with a working knowledge of Best Piping/Practice/Industry Standards, regulatory standards, codes and design criteria.
  • Gathering field information and developing field sketches.
  • Work performed is in a team environment to meet project objectives that include schedules, budgets, and quality checks.
  • Layout & design of piping & equipment and piping isometrics.
  • Assists with plans and schedules and prepares/maintains design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents.
  • Capable of leading small size projects(1-3 person teams).

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • One of the following combinations of education and experience
    • Two-year technical degree with specialized training in computer aided mechanical or architectural drafting and design; AND 11 years of related work experience
    • OR, Graduation with a Bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year non-ABET accredited engineering program; AND 11 years of related work experience
    • OR, a bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year engineering technology program; AND 9 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally to oces, vendor shops, and project sites. Travel is expected to be up to 10%
  • Must comply with drug-free workplace requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and pass any background checks.
  • Performs work in a safe manner in accordance with C&I and client requirements.
  • Field walk downs at the client’s site is required and usually includes climbing, walking, and working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Qualifications that set you apart:

  • Primary experience in Refinery & Petro/Chemicals Industries
  • F&B/Sanitary piping experience a strong plus
  • Prior Leadership experience
  • AutoCAD & CADWorx proficiency plus experience with laser scan
