SCHOOL BEAHAVIOR ANALYST - NEIL HELLMAN SCHOOL ALBANY

POSITION SUMMARY

To support the Schools 3-tiered framework of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) by identifying the functions of student behavior and recommending behavior interventions to promote student learning and school success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and develop draft Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for Tier 3 meetings.
  • Conduct Trauma-Informed Functional Assessment Interviews with educational staff regarding Tier 3 referred students.
  • Conduct classroom observations. Observations include students-interactions with peers and staff, and reactions to interventions. A-B-C (Antecedent-Behavior-Consequences) format is used to assist in determining function of behavior.
  • Document observations in A-B-C format.
  • Incorporate additional observation data from other staff observers into BIP draft.
  • Evaluate the function of the behavior and formulate suggestions for interventions based on A-B-C observations, review of data, chart review, and staff interviews.
  • Write draft FBA and BIP in preparation for Tier 3 multi-disciplinary student support team discussion to further develop the FBA and BIP draft. Document changes recommended in the Tier 3 meeting.
  • Attend Student Plan Review, Committee on Special Education meetings, Reinstatement meetings, and BIP updates as assigned in order to facilitate the review of the BIP and document BIP updates.
  • Gather and document progress monitoring of BIPs.
  • Lead Tier 2 and 3 meetings as a back up to the Coordinator of PBIS and Director of Specialized Student Services.
  • Collaborate with educational and clinical staff to develop effective interventions within the BIP.
  • Provide support to the staff assigned to schedule and coordinate Tier I recognitions and supports (e.g. Boosters, Top Ten Voucher Earner Lunch, Field Trips).
  • Research creative interventions/skills to support students.
  • Establish effective relationships with educational, clinical, and support staff in order to collaborate well, promote effective intervention implementation, and follow up.
  • Attend additional meetings as assigned (e.g. TLCs, Universal Tier 1 meeting).
  • Two months prior to initial annual CSE reviews conduct an audit of when all BIPs were last updated. Flag any updates needed prior to that students annual review.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or Psychology.
  • Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments and developing Behavioral Intervention plans with a demonstrated positive growth oriented mindset and ability to work from a strengths-based perspective.
  • Two years full time experience directly working with youth with significant psychiatric, emotional and behavioral issues preferred.

CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE

  • Requires valid drivers license.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst preferred,
  • Licensed Behavior Analyst preferred.
