Role
It Takes A Village is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team. As a Cook, you will be the heart of our kitchen operations, responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation and services to ensure the well-being and satisfaction of our young learners. The cook will be responsible for meticulously planning and executing nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our students. You'll work closely with management and staff to develop diverse and balanced menus that promote healthy eating habits and support overall growth and development.

 

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily meals according to the prescribed nutritional guidelines and menus.

  • Ensure kitchen hygiene and safety standards are met consistently.

  • Manage kitchen inventory and collaborate with suppliers to source fresh and sustainable ingredients.

  • Supervise and manage cook assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and quality in meal preparation.

  • Maintain strict adherence to meal schedules to ensure that all meals are served on time and at optimal quality.

  • Engage with students and staff to promote nutritional education and healthy eating habits.

  • Assist in developing and testing new recipes that align with our dietary standards and cultural inclusivity.

 

Location: Bronzeville, South Loop, Austin, and Oak Park (Communities in Chicago, IL.)

Position Type: Full-Time

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role. 

  • Must have a Certified FoodService Manager license from the Chicago Department of Public Health.   

  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
