A LITTLE ABOUT THE POSITION:

  • Fresno currently serves clients in their homes and in some community settings, as needed. We support clients who live independently to achieve success. Assist clients with day to day needs while teaching them to become more independent, i.e. meal prepping, appointment scheduling, using public transportation, grocery shopping, hygiene, etc. Our ultimate goal is to help our clients reach their highest potential.

 

OUR DIRECT SERVICE AIDES ACHIEVE SUCCESS BY:

  • Providing the client with appropriate and effective services such as support and training programs
  • Advance client’s decision-making, productivity and participation in a range of daily activities
  • Serving each client in the least restrictive environment
  • Increasing the independence of all clients served
  • Assisting each person with improving his/her quality of life
  • Provide positive advocacy when the individual’s preferences, needs, or talents are neglected or overlooked
  • Participating in client evaluations through task analysis and other requested assessment devices
  • Providing direct service as needed and required
    • ​​​This may include assistance with driving them to locations, doctor's appointments, etc. 
  • Providing total care services as needed (i.e. bathing, brushing teeth, brief changes, etc)
  • Performing all duties of a direct service provider as assigned.

Qualifications

SKILLS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must successfully complete a Red Cross approved First Aid and CPR class within 45 days of the date of hire OR already possess a Red Cross approved First-Aid certificate.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Some of our clients are physically impaired and require assistance into and out of wheelchairs and other assistive devices. The Direct Support Professional must be able to perform such tasks on an urgent or emergency basis. Many of the jobs/activities in which our clients engage require physical exertion on the part of the Adjoin staff person (i.e., walking (75% of workday), climbing stairs (10% workday but on a frequent basis), lifting (10% of workday but on a frequent basis), stretching, bending, etc.). A Direct Support Professional must have the ability to talk, hear, and see in order to assist the client in his/her quest for independence.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adjoin employees must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated by Nov 30. Applicants must provide proof of at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine prior to their first day of employment and complete full vaccination by Nov. 30th.
  • The Direct Support Professional must be capable of making on-site visits to clients, agencies and employers. Often these on-site visits are at a distance from the office and no regular means of public transportation exists. Overnight travel is rare, but may be required for training and as part of a client's program. A Direct Support Professional may transport a client as part of his/her/their job duties. 
  • A reliable means of transportation, valid California license and CA insurance is required. Adjoin does not furnish transportation or vehicles for its employees however, mileage is reimbursed. A reliable means of transportation, valid California license and CA insurance is required.
  • He/she/they must successfully pass a screening for illicit drug use prior to employment.
  • He/she/they must possess a record clear from past felonious criminal activity and submit to a Department of Justice criminal activity background check.
  • Adjoin’s client case management platform requires employees to utilize a mobile smart device(i.e. cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data to complete certain essential job tasks. This position requires the employee to have a mobile smart device available to perform certain required essential functions, for which reasonable reimbursement is provided to the employee.
