POSITION SUMMARY: Provide student instruction and support for courses including but not limited to Anatomy, Anatomy Lab, and Histology.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Model the mission, vision and values of the University and colleges in a positive, ethical and professional manner.
  2. Be accountable to students and administration with respect to delivering quality, student centered education.
  3. Use current and relevant information in course content delivery.
  4. Determine and, as necessary, obtain approval for required course textbook(s) unless exempted by administration.
  5. Come to class prepared and on time, use class time effectively.
  6. Update and publish complete and clear course syllabi by deadline prior to each term.
  7. Establish and maintain a professional classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  8. Develop and deliver sound course assessments consistent with course and program learning objectives.
  9. Grade assignments in timely manner in accordance with established rubrics.
  10. Provide formative and summative feedback on classroom assignments and activities.
  11. Maintain regular office hours and provide ample time for student support.
  12. Coordinate with student affairs to provide reasonable accommodations as needed.
  13. Meet all administrative and classroom deadlines.
  14. Be able to teach in various formats (face-to-face, hybrid, on-line).
  15. Report to Director if absent or unable to attend the class.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of protected information in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  17. Review and abide institutional policies, procedures and guidelines as outlined in Logan University Employee and Faculty. Handbooks.
  18. Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and college ceremonies.
  19. Treat colleagues, staff, and students in a professional manner.
  20. Refraining from making pejorative statements regarding the university, fellow faculty or staff personnel in the presence of students or patients.
  21. Notify appropriate Logan personnel of damage to Logan property and any problems that affect any aspect of the university's functions.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES: Key competencies beyond content expertise include social and emotional intelligence, integrity, conflict management skills, decision making skills, accountability, and leadership skills. To perform the job successfully an individual must have a strong organizational ability. The individual must have successful support experience, strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, be a good listener, and be able to work with individuals and groups effectively. The individual must be able to set goals and objectives, prioritize and plan work activities, and meet deadlines. The ability to handle pressures of balancing the time required dealing with individual problems of faculty, students, and staff while completing the necessary responsibilities is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS: The individual must possess a graduate-level degree in anatomy or other closely related field, or a professional degree with additional graduate training in anatomy; have one year of documented successful teaching experience at the college or graduate level, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

All qualifying degrees and coursework must be from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the US. Secretary of Education, or, in the case of degrees from non-U.S. institutions, an equivalent degree as determined by an approved credential evaluation service. Online teaching experience required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Basic math skills required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general computer skills including communication tools (email), presentation tools, word processing and spreadsheets.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Required as appropriate to degree possessed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to use hands to type on computer, operate office equipment and handle books, files, documents, etc. Must be able to talk and hear to answer phones and when assisting others. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and to stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift objects weighing from 10 to 30 pounds and possibly up to 50 pounds. Close vision needed to use computer. Must have distance vision and depth perception for safety purposes.
